Wonderful First Block

Do you want to see what I got as my first block??

Is that not wonderful! Karyli made it for me....and I stole the picture from her blog. I am so glad I joined this swap adventure!

A Block from Kurt to Staci

Look what the postman brought today!  Isn't it fabulous? I couldn't be more pleased!
I asked for bright, patriotic colors, and either a house, flag or log cabin block.  It will look wonderful with the house block I received in January.

I love star blocks and the LeMoyne star is my all time favorite.

Look what the mail brought

Sneak peek for Margaret

Here is a sneak peek for Margaret.  She requested a geometric block, and she likes blue.

Both of our lives were a bit crazy in February, so we agreed to give each other a bit more time to make our blocks.  I am sending this to her tomorrow!

Today is my birthday and I just got home from a Thunder/Lakers game---Thunder lost : (   but I will be going out to dinner tonight with my sweet family : )

Postal time frames. . .

Anyone know how long the average postal delivery time is between the U.S. and Australia? I know that's a long haul, especially from the U.S. East Coast, but Sylvia just wrote to say hers haven't arrived yet. I posted them on the 17th via first class mail in a padded envelope - sure seems like that's enough time!

Fabric Choice Sneak Peak for Jennifer D in NJ

Jennifer mentioned autumnal colours and not liking solids, so this is a sneak peak of the fabrics I have chosen for her block. (Edited to add: The dark fabric is actually a really dark chocolate brown even though it looks black in here, the yellow is like a mustard-gold)

This is also my first time swapping and I found the site via Cherryl from Gone Stitching. So thanks Cherryl!

HeAdiNg to Tamera

I will send off my March block tomorrow (Monday) so Tamera can keep an eye out for it. It's flying AiR MaiL so I hope the storms don't delay it! Hope she likes it too. Fingers crossed xxx.

Sneak Peak for Jane!

I finished your block today. I love the pattern you chose. I hope you like what I did.

Happy Quilting Jane!
Jodi from Colorado

Sneak Peak for Lana

I finished your block, Lana.  Here's a sneak peak.

I can't wait for you to get it.  I had so much fun making it!

Have a great day, everyone!

Block from Staci for February

I am lucky that I got two blocks, not just one, and both are awesome looking.  Thank you so much Staci!

Block for Jennifer D in NJ :)

Yey!  I got her block done today!  My sewing room is still in boxes but I was able to find my sewing machine and made myself sit down and finish her block.  Here is a sneak peak:

It's not the best picture since I took it with my cell phone and artificial light.  That green does not have as much yellow in it as the picture shows and that purple batik reads more as a blue...but oh well.  I hope she likes it!  :P

March block for my Partner

Brights with definition in a Pinwheel design on its way to Colorado

Sneak peek for Jackie

I finally finished Jackie's block.  She asked for a red white and black star block.  Here is a sneak peak.
I used three different batiks I found at the Quilt Extravaganza in Statesville earlier this month.  I say finally finished because I had a little mishap with a rotary cutter Tuesday night.  I had everything cut and mostly pieced and was trimming up some sections when I sliced right through the point of the last HST.  It was late and I decided not to fix it until the next day.  Of course then I got sick.  Well its done and ready to be dropped in the mail.  I hope you like it Jackie!

:o) Colleen

It's That Time Of The Month

Just a quick reminder that your blocks are to be out in the mail no later than today!  If you should have some reason that you will be mailing your partner's block late, please let them know.

I have sent emails out to everyone with their March partner assignments.  If you did not receive an email let me know but please check your spam box first.

Thanks, Linda G.

She also sent this gorgeous flower.

I'm a happy girl!  Thanks Anorina.

Sneak peak block going to Heather in Nova Scotia

Partial block of a Log Cabin going to Heather. Mailed today from Tulsa, OK, with love! I hope you enjoy your block when it arrives, Heather. At least I remember to put the Customs form on the front of the envelope.

The Block Swap is so much fun. I love the idea of expecting packages at least once a month!!

Block for Marina

Carolyn asked me to post this picture for her.  It is the block she made for Marina.  Carolyn said "Marina received her package today and is very happy with her basket block and the fabric covered notebook I made for her."

February Block from Wendy!!

This is absolutely gorgeous and screams shabby chic! Just what I wanted. Thanks Wendy!
Well this picture doesn't do it justice. As you can see I really don't do well with cameras.
Linda from GA

Block Rec'd From Laurrie

I AM SO HAPPY! I love my block!

This block matches my sewing area, so it might just get framed and hung up :D  It was nothing like I was expecting, and I was so pleasantly surprised.  (For some reasons the colors didn't come out true.)
Wonky Houses
Look at the cute little buttons!

Thanks so much Laurrie for being a great partner! <3

Request for Selvages

I am starting to collect selvages to make a spool quilt like some that I have seen lately on the internet and I would gladly accept any selvages that you cut off from your fabrics.  I have made a few small things with selvages and I like the look : )  Anyway, if you are interested, let me know, and maybe I could send you a fat quarter or two of fabric in your favorite color,  or whatever you think is a good trade!  I think an inch width is plenty wide, depending upon the size of the selvage, and I am particularly interested in the words and color dots.

Thanks you so much,
Elizabeth

February Block (Finally) Finished

I have been really worried that I would not be able to get my Feb block done in time with all our renovations going on and being unable to get to my sewing machine for a few weeks, as well as waiting on some fabric to be delivered! Thankfully my fabric arrived a few days before I could get my sewing machine set up to start sewing.

This block is for Barbara from Arizona and here is a sneak peak:
Isn’t is 'funny' when you take a very close up picture your missed corners become so evident! This blocks was made with Civil War Fabrics using a 9-patch block called Army Star. It will be on it’s way to Barbara in tomorrows mail! I really hope she likes it.

Request For Stash

I am looking for a few swap angels to make a fabric donation.  One of our own members has had to withdraw from the swap for the month of March due to lack of stash.  I know that many of us have more stash than we will ever use even if we were to live to 200 years old (I'm one of those).  If you would like to make a one time, small donation of fabric to this member, please let me know and I will send you an email with her snail mail address.  Let's give this member a little stash of her own.

Thanks,
Linda G

Blocks from Brenda

This has been a wonderful adventure so far with two great swap partners. In January it was Kurt with his wonderful wife and I didn't think it would get better than that. The block was the bomb and the mini quilt was perfection. This month Brenda was my swap partner and it got even better!

Bren and I even have a tenative lunch & shop hopping date in March to meet each other and to see some of the quilt shops in the Memphis area. I am so excited!
Here are the wonderful blocks she sent me with Kurt's block peeking in at the bottom.
Lator Gators! May the fabric you need appear in your stash and Keep 2011 STRESS FREE!

Jan and Feb Blocks have arrived!

I think there must have been an issue with the post as Leona's block to me for Jan has only just arrived and I know she sent it ages ago!
Well thanks Leona I love it! And she even added a sweet little tissue holder too.
In the mail today I also received my block from Mary in Canada, a yellow and grey block with a modified star, so cute, she was kind enough to add some little fabric samples too! Thank you Mary.
I sent Mary's block earlier this week on tuesday, I'm not sure how much she uses the web as she doesn't have a blog, so I'm going to post a picture of her block, she wanted teal colours in any design, I did make one block but when I measured it, it didn't quite measure up, so this is my second attempt and I must admit I prefer this one.
Hope she loves it!

February block completed

It was Friday Night Sew In yesterday.  It is so good to have a designated day to stop everything else and sew.

Here is my block for Theresa, my February partner.

Theresa, your block will be in the mail on Monday, with my apologies for taking so long.

It will be going in the mail in the morning.  I hope you like it!

Sneak Peek for Marina

Carolyn asked me to post this sneak peek of her block for Marina.  She said it was going out in today's mail.  (Sorry the picture didn't download clearly).

Sandi's block has arrived

Sandi from KY has sent me this beautiful block, hand painted card and dragonfly earrings. I am such a lucky girl. Thank you Sandi. I love it.

A Member Has a New Blog!

Lynette just let me know that she has recently joined the blogging world.  Why don't you take a stroll through her blog at What A Hoot! Quilts From The Heart.  Let her know that you stopped by for a visit!

Sneak Peak for Colleen!

Colleen wanted red, aqua, brown, green and grey colors.  She also wanted a fussy cut piece of a neat graphic print anywhere in the block.  I hope I got this right, Colleen.  It was a lot of fun to make using all the colors!

And a teaser for Sylvia in New South Wales:

Sylvia, your packet will go to the post office tomorrow, so watch for an orange padded envelope from Florida. :D

Blocks from Australia!!

How exciting! I got home from a trip out to Colorado for my daughter's college music audition, and there was a fun packet from Sylvia in Australia waiting for me! Silvia was so gracious, she made me two blocks for my Mother's Dream collection. So very happy to have them, and thanks to Linda, as well, for coordinating this swap - I know I'm going to LOVE having a quilt made by helping hands from all over this Planet Earth!

Sneak Peak for Tamera

Tamera,
Here is your block sneak peak...it's on it's way!
