First Swap With the Group

Hello.  My name is Lei and I am new to the group.  The February swap was my first and I had a lot of fun.  Donna was my partner and she sent me a wonderful pinwheel block.  I have to say the orange fabric is my favorite part of the block.

Donna requested the Dutchman's Puzzle block and this is the block that I sent to her.

I have enjoyed my first swap and am looking forward to future swaps.  Thanks!

Block for Debra

Debra needed an angel partner this month (February) so I offered, because she sent me an extra kitty when one got lost!

So I was able to finish up her block while I was sewing up a storm.

And here is the ADORABLE kitty she sent me!!!! it's head even doubles as a pocket!  SO cute!

Block for Kathy

Since I was going to town I also got my block for Kathy (my March swap done).

Since Kathy asked for a churn dash block, I decided to make her sneak peek black and white :)

It should be on it's way to you shortly!

Teaser for Ida

I'm so sorry this is late!! I got sick last week, so I wasn't able to get into my sewing room until tonight!

This scrappy block will be on it's way to you tomorrow!

And look at the kitty she sent me!!! Isn't it adorable?!?

Two Tops Finished

I am not part of the group this year, I am taking a little break. But I had been since it started. I have had so much fun!! I have taken some of the blocks and made quilt tops and wanted to show them off. I will be adding one more border after I buy the fabric. I want to add a wild color border. I want to thank all of those who made a block for me. I hope you can spot yours. I love both of these tops!!!

January block from Marina in the Netherlands

I asked for a star, either wonky or traditional, in bold colors. And that's what I got!  Love it!

Thank you, Janet!

My block from Janet arrived from Canada, and I confess: I opened the envelope and my brain said, "Shark bait, ooo-ha-ha!"  lol - Guess I had "Finding Nemo" on the brain.  :D

Love this deer, especially after watching a quilt get made out of that fabric!

Sneak Peek for Teresa in UK

Here's a sneak peek for my partner, Teresa, from UK. This is the February Block Swap Adventure block. Teresa requested the Cactus Pot Block. http://quilting.about.com/od/blockofthemonth/ss/cactus_quilt.htm

Color Preference:Bright, strong colors, primary colors, pinks, greens, electric blues. Cheerful colors.
Teresa's block is the top one. Oops, did I just say that? It's not the top one... Those are my UFO flower basket blocks that I haven't worked on for quite a while. Her block is kinda like that but just a little different in the colors that she liked. If I post a picture of it the surprise would be ruined. I put it in the mail today. I'm not sure how long it will take to get to UK, but she should have it by the end of the month for sure.
Here's her real sneak peek. It's coming in a green envelope, Theresa! Enjoy!

Thank You!

Debbie's so cool!  I got her gorgeous block yesterday:

But did she stop there? No! She sent a really lovely handwritten note with a quarter yard of some 30's fabric for me.

Now I have 1 green piece, a bit of pink, and this blue.  :)   A nice little start for the 30's quilt I will one day make. The historian in me just cannot allow my quilt collection to miss something from this era!

Thank you so much, Debbie!

RANT from a member

Someone asked me to post this for her. It is something I feel definitely needs to be addressed. I have started marking "flakes" down, those are people that do not respond to me or their partner and those people will be dropped from the swap.

I am having a bit of an issue with participants in the Block Swap Adventure. I have been particpating in this group for over 2 years, and have met some wonderful people, and from almost every partner have received a block, which I absolutely love.

My issue however is with those partners who DON'T COMMUNICATE!!!

You don't have to send me an email every week letting me know what the status of my block is, but it would be nice if you acknowledged receipt of the information that Melissa takes the time to distribute, and maybe confirm exactly what you are looking for.

When I contact you I might be asking for clarification on colours for backgrounds, or if you like a particular type of fabric, like balis. I want to be able to send you the best block that I can, and without hearing back from you, I am only guessing.

I also like to hear from you when you receive the block that I sent. I always send you an email advising that it has been posted.

In the last 4 months, 3 of my partners were non-communicaters and so you got what you got, and I hope it was acceptable. This is supposed to be a fun group, but without answers to my questions, I stress that I might not be making a block that you will appreciate.

Anyway, that is my rant, so PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR PARTNER!!!!

February Block from Lynette

Look at this great 1930s block I received from Lynette! Love the colors and the fabric!  Thank you so much, Lynette. I had fun swapping with you this month.  :)

Block for Susan P

Susan has emailed me stating she received her block.
Hope you liked it.

Happy Valentines Day
