Beauty From Jorie

I received this beautiful block in the mail today from Jorie.  I just love the bold red in combination with the subtle blue and crisp white.  But wait!  I also received......

This stunning block from Jorie, too!  I have yet to attempt circles and I think Jorie did a wonderful job.  Once again I love the fabric selection.  Thank you so very much for two such amazing blocks, Jorie!!

Hugs,

Let's follow each other : )

I am suggesting that we follow each other, if we have a blog.  I always check out your blogs, but I haven't followed each of you yet.  I plan to start following all my fellow Block Swapper blogs and  I hope that you will join me.

Sneak Peak for Linda

My hubby gave me a new sewing machine for my 30th birthday and I couldn't wait to create something with it so I made my block for July on it.  Here is your sneak peak Linda!

A little peak for Quanita

This has been finished for awhile, but I'm late getting it into the mail.  It will be there soon!

Looking For Angels

I was wondering if any of you would like to be on the "Sewing Angels" list.  I occasionally need someone to make an extra block for a month.  This usually happens when someone new joins our group after partners have been assigned or if someone has an emergency and is unable to fill their obligation for the month.  If you would be interested, either leave a comment below or email me.

Hugs,
Linda G

July Block for Evelina (and neat ideas!)

I think this is the first time I have ever finished my block BEFORE the month began.... However, the same day I got my partner info from Linda I had seen a certain tutorial for a block I hadn't ever seen before, and it just so happened to fit into Evelina's preferences/likes, and I also just so happened to have the perfect colors for it :) I had to try it out right away, and I love it so much that I will definitely be making more of these blocks for myself.... For now though you just get a sneak peek:

I hope you like it Evelina, sorry that it is quite blurry, but maybe it will add to the element of suspense! ;)

I am going to try to get it in the mail on Friday, especially since I know international mail takes longer, but my weekdays are too busy to get to the post office during the week.

Now, in case anyone is wondering where I saw the tutorial of the block I just HAD to make, then you should definitely check out the Modify Tradition blog. On the right hand side is a nice list of really fun and neat blocks (some are common ones, others are ones I've never seen, and some are neat twists on traditional ones). You may find a more unique block to try that could be new to you AND your partner. Happy Sewing!

Block for Karyli

A sailing boat for Karyli

The block Karyli sent me
Late and Karyli knew it and that it would be posted this morning - Monday, but it is done and was fun to make. I'm using my stash when making these blocks but it's not making a dint at all, my range of blues while isn't to bad were mostly patterned so finding water and sky that didn't clash to badly and water with flowers is ok isn't it. Oh by the way if you want to see a full picture of the boat I will have one on my blog http://suesplaceinthesun.blogspot.com/

I forgot to post the lovely block that I received last week from Karyli, no excuses except it is winter and I've had a cold. Sewing all my commitment has actually eased how bad I feel.

Block for Linda

I tried to get this in the mail today but I made it to the post office SIX minutes too late today :( I figured I had until 3, but apparently only until 230... I'm sorry Linda! I will be going to the post office on my way to school on Monday. (Still sounds weird to be saying that again!)

Here is a sneak peek of the block for you:

I didn't realize until after the block was completely assembled that the whites aren't exactly all the same :/ I hope that isn't going to be a huge problem (I don't mind making another one if it is!). They are all WHITE, just some is slightly thinner. I think when you use the block and quilt it you won't be able to tell. Believe it or not, I had no more white yardage, so I had to pull from scraps to get the white for this block!

P.S. everytime I add a photo to a post it completely screws with the formatting of the message. Does anybody know why it does that or how I can get it to STOP doing that?

Reminders and Emails

Don't forget that your blocks should be in the mail no later than tomorrow, June 25.  If you cannot meet this deadline, please let your June swap partner know immediately.  I had to play go between several times this month for blocks that were either never mailed in May or were sent out very late.  Please remember to communicate with your swap partner.

Tomorrow, June 25, I will be sending out July swap partner information.  We had several people leave and a few new members join so there was a lot of reorganization that had to be done this month.  If you do not receive an email by 8:00 pm PST, please check your spam box before contacting me.  If you still can't find or did not receive your swap partner information, please contact me at blockswapadventure2 at gmail dot com.

I hope every body's summer is off to a good start.  If you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hugs,
Linda G

Nine Patch Star for Rochelle in Australia Sneak Peek

Rochelle wants a nine patch star quilt block which I have never made. Took me a while to find a pattern online but alas, I was successful. I hand dye fabrics, and so I decided that this block would be out of my hand dyed stash of Rochelle's favorite colors: purple and aqua. Hope you enjoy the block, Rochelle. It goes in the mail today.

Can anyone help?

Hi, I'm new to the Block Swap and I'm having a little trouble making the block my partner requested.  It's called the Tulip Ladyfingers block and it can be found here.  Basically I can't get all the tips of the "tulips" to be pointy once I've squared up my block a little.  Plus, even with the tulips that are pointy, I don't understand how they will stay pointy once my partner sews them to another block with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.  I would appreciate any help someone could give me so I can send a perfect block that my partner can use.  Thanks!!!

May block from Wendy

Block from Wendy
My block for May arrived Friday in the mail, I emailed Wendy and said when I got time I would post a picture. It is now Tuesday morning and it has taken me this long to get round to posting a picture and an explanation why it has taken so long. It has been a long weekend, Queens birthday weekend here in eastern Australia, which means yesterday was a public holiday. Thursday night trip to airport to pick up DD2 who has come up for the weekend for Lily's party and see the rest of the family and friends.
Friday we did the lights of Vivid, Saturday was DGD Lily's 3rd birthday party, ended up going most of the day with a group of us doing dinner together, Sunday DH Steve did a baby dedication service for a young couple not part of our church but who wanted their little girl done! Last night I did baked dinner for 11, friends whose daughter is off to London UK to teach next month is friends with our daughter up from Melbourne so both families got together to have a last meal because Jennifer goes before Elizabeth is up again.

Lily and aunty Beth playing
MCA where you could decorate the building

Sydney Opera House made out of solar lights
it had been overcast so the light weren't working

So now it is Tuesday morning and I am home alone, time to put my sewing room back from guest room and do some sewing, this months block is waiting to be done.

A Peek-a-Boo and A Thank You ~~

Here's a peek for Sue Stubbings.
It's on the way...
Hope you like it.

And this is the May block I received from Debra.  I'll add it to my fleet of sailboats!
