Just a shared moment
I was working on my block for April. My partner wants a specific block so no problem, I just have to cut and sew in her colors, right? I read the instructions, they read: "Stack the Color 1 and Color 2 3-7/8" x 31" strips right sides together and all edges aligned. Cut at 3-7/8" intervals to make eight square-pairs." So I stack Color 1 and Color 2 and proceed to cut my squares. So proud of myself, I'm gonna whip this baby right out and have it done before dawn. Unfortunately, my eye apparently got stuck on 2 and I cut eight pairs of 2-7/8" pieces. The proceeded to cut them square again at 2-7/8". Do you all think my partner will mind that her block is only 8" square? bwahahahaha Back to the sewing block...sus in spokane

Sneak Peek for Charlene
Here is my sneak peek for Charlene. She wanted a block in greens and teals. This will go out in Wednesday's mail. Charlene, if you want the block to be a surprise, then don't visit my blog on Tuesday.
Hugs,

From Shannon to Munaiba
Munaiba I know that you have been worried and I am so sorry!! I have your block done and it is on it's way. I dropped it off in the mail on Friday. Friday was my husband and my birthday see we left town for the weekend. Here is a sneak peak at your block. I hope you like it. I love it, so bright and fun. Take care!
March block sent to Pat in Oregon
Pat in Oregon requested a STAR block. I have never made a star block, or if I have, I do not remember it. The pink background fabric I found on sale and planned to use in a baby quilt but it did not make the cut. The yellow fat qtr was in my stash hidden deep. I was so happy with the combination!
I guessed at the dimensions, since I did not have a pattern. Lining up the points was particularly challenging.
While I was sewing the squares together to complete the block, I had a small "episode" where I completely lost track of what I was doing. I doubted that I was even supposed to be making a star block. After quickly checking the computer, I validated that I was doing the right thing!! But I made some other "cognitive" mistakes during a 30 minute period that really scared me. Has not happened since and hope it does not happen again. I pride myself in my memory and quick thinking so this was quite different for me.
Thanks, Pat, for giving me the opportunity to make this bright star for you. And thanks to the BLOCK SWAP for getting my mind back on track!

Staci, you nailed the ocean theme with this one!
Thank you SO much!! I love it!!
P.S. Staci also sent me a fat quarter of another oceany batik print. Check it out HERE. How cool is that?!!
March Block for Jennifer in NJ - Hope you liked it!
Linda let me know that Jennifer received my block some time last week, so here it is! This was my very first swap and I was very excited to participate. Jennifer mentioned she liked autumnal colours and was not that fond of solids. Thanks for being my partner Jennifer, hope you liked your block :)
I saw this block in the Bloggers Block A Palooza - Waiting for Spring, hosted by Quilt Dad and thought it would work well with the prints I had, and also I had just purchased a Mini Fit to be Geese Ruler and was going a little flying geese crazy!
The block is called Lemonade Stand and was designed by Blue Nickel Studios (Scott Hansen).
March Blocks to and from Sunny
I received this beautiful block today from Barbara. I'm collecting baskets from everyone, and couldn't be more pleased with this one. The colors are much prettier in real life, and are exactly what I was hoping for. I now have 3 beautiful blocks, and they all play very well together!
Barbara requested a nine-patch in Civil War fabrics from me, so this is what I sent to her.
Blogger is being so difficult tonight, I'm going to sign off before it gets any worse. Thanks again Barbara!
I see the pictures still aren't showing up. If you click on the little boxes, the picture will open up. I hope this gets fixed soon!
April Sneak Peek for Karyli
As soon as I got the email, I realized this was a block I had never tried before! I enjoyed stepping out and doing something a little different, hope you like it when you get it! (I know, I'm early. I had time with no kids or hubby today though so I had creating time!! :D )
Sneak peeks for Brenda and Theresa

Here is Theresa's sneak peek.

March Block from Brenda
Red, White and Blue for Staci
I didn't have much in the way of the patriotic colors Staci requested but when I ran across these while browsing a fabric store, I thought they'd possibly work. Here's a peek and I hope it doesn't disappoint.

March Block from UK to USA
Phew!!! here is a (late) sneak preview for the block to Mary sent out on 22nd March
I hope you'll like this block.
Hello
Hi. What a great group. I love looking at all of the exciting and beautiful blocks. I'm so glad I am a new part of it.
REMINDERS
Good March 24th everyone!
Just a quick reminder that your blocks are due out in tomorrow's mail. If you are unable to meet this deadline, please notifiy your swap partner immediately.
I also would like to remind you of the importance of protecting the blocks you are mailing.
I received this in the mail the other day.......
I just hate it when I see this envelope in the mailbox. The postal people always make it sound like this couldn't have ever been their fault. YUCK!
But luckily Kate had slipped the contents of the envelope into a sealed bag as I had suggested to all of my Bee members. None of the nasty, icky, sticky, who-knows-what-it-is stuff could get through to the precious fabrics.
So remember to either enclose your block in a plastic bag or wrap it in plastic wrap before slipping it into the mailing envelope.
I will be sending out emails with swap partner information tomorrow.
Hugs,
Linda G (Stray Stitches)

Sneak peak for Tiffany
Here is a sneak peak for Tiffany. I sent these on Tuesday. When I first made them I was not sure if I would like them or not. They sat on my table (waiting for me to package them up) for a couple of days weeks. Every time I saw them, I grew to like them more and more. I really hope that you enjoy them.
There are two as I messed up the size of the first one (12.25" not 12.5", darn that .25") and had to redo. On the redo I was scared to cut down to size so it is a bit over 12.5". Hope that is okay. Anyone want to teach me how to square up properly?? And sew a quarter seam properly??

To and From Laurrie...
Here is the sneak peek of the block I made for Laurrie in Canada. She wanted spring colors and I had fun with this block. I loved it and, I admit, I kept it an extra day... or two... just to look at it. It's on it's way now though. Hope she likes it as much as I did.
And this is the one I received from her:
Isn't it amazing!! I love all the different little boats!!
Thank you, Laurrie!

Here is a sneak peek of the block I am sending to Charlene:

A Challenge
I know all of us have hectic schedules and too much already on our list of things that HAVE to be done. But maybe you could take an hour or two to meet this challenge. I blogged about this wonderful event on Stray Stitches (March 18) but wanted to share it here too.
JUST ONE STAR
Moda staff and designers would like to invite you to join their newest challenge: Just One Star can comfort a soldier. The challenge is to piece, quilt and bind 100 quilts in 100 days using the Flag of Valor pattern by Minick and Simpson. As the saying goes "many hands make light work". They need 1800 star blocks to reach their goal. You can be involved too! You simply need to make a quilt block(s) to support moda and Semper Fi's efforts.
Please take a few minutes to piece Just One Star block (click here for pattern) using a medium red or blue and a cream background. Sign each block with your name and state. Moda will coordinate the donation of the 100 quilts thru the Semper Fi Fund. The deadline for blocks is May 1, 2011 so that moda can meet their quilt deadline by Flag Day, June 14, 2011.
Yesterday I made two of the stars.....
and my brown pigma pen arrived in the mail so I could sign the blocks with my name and state. They are on the road to moda today!
Won't you help this very worthy cause? Support our troops! Let's help moda make more than 100 quilts!
